Admission to M.Tech. Programme in IIT Madras, Chennai and IIT Bombay, Mumbai under AERB Graduate Fellowship Scheme

(Academic year starting July - August 2010)

 

The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Niyamak Bhavan, Anushakti Nagar, Mumbai sponsors upto 2 students per year for the M. Tech. Programme in Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering in IIT, Madras, Chennai and upto 2 students per year for the M.Tech Programme in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Thermal Engineering) Chemical Engineering and Energy Systems Engineering in IIT, Bombay, Mumbai. AERB is an independent body of the Government of India which enforces safety provisions in nuclear power stations and other nuclear and radiation installations in India. The selected candidates would be governed by the same terms and conditions as the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS-2010). As per this scheme, the selected candidates would receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 20000/- and a one time educational material allowance of Rs. 5000/-. M. Tech. course duration is of 2 years and an AERB selected candidate who joins M. Tech. towards the end of July 2010, is expected to complete the M. Tech. Programme by July 2012. AERB selected candidates after successful completion of M. Tech. programme at the institute, would join a 4 months Orientation Course for DGFS Fellows (OCDF) conducted at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School, Mumbai starting from September 1, 2012. The selected candidates would be absorbed in the grade of Scientific Officer - C in the pay band PB-3 (15,600 – 39,100 plus grade pay Rs. 5,400/-) with 3 or 4 increments depending on the performance during M. Tech. and the 4 months orientation course. The total emoluments, at the beginning, inclusive of the 4 advance increments and all allowances (DA, TA and HRA) would be around Rs. 40,990/- per month (DA as per present rate) if posted in an ''A'' class city. In addition other allowances such as professional update allowance, leave travel concession and a comprehensive contributory health service scheme for employees and their dependent family members are also payable. The candidates would have to execute a bond to serve AERB for a period of three years.
