Safety Review & Assessment

Safety review and assessment is one of the most important cornerstone for regulatory oversight. Safety review and assessment continues throughout the lifetime of the facilities and during activities. It ensures safety at all times.

Safety review ensures adherence to provisions of rules, safety requirements, licence conditions and other requirements of AERB. It comprises of review by staff of AERB as well as multi-level review in various safety committees consisting of experts in various fields, from within DAE as well as outside.

Safety review and assessment may result in grant of licence for any facility or activity, enforcement action like revocation or suspension of licence, recommendation for further enchasing safety, areas for focused inspections/surprise inspections, recognition of good practices which may be emulated at other facilities, enabling utilities and users in achieving higher standards of safety.

Review of training programmes, qualifications and licensing policies for personnel (for the projects/plants/facilities) may also be part of a safety review.
