Dr. I.A. Patwegar is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He joined BARC in 1974 after completing one year course of 17th batch of BARC Training School. He was associated with various R&D activities of 'Reactor Safety Division', BARC. He aquired his Ph.D from I.I.T. Bombay in 1992 on the topic of 'Performance Characteristic of a Centrifugal Steam Separator using Air-Water Mixtures'. He was deputed to NPCIL during 1990-94 where he worked for newly formed 'Directorate of Health & Safety, NPCIL'.

He joined Nuclear Projects Safety Division of AERB on July 1, 2003 and is associated with safety review and regulatory inspection of nuclear power projects.
